This was one of those nights that words aren't able to describe. I have planned this night for close to two and a half months. I've always had a desire to be a host; I love cooking for others, decorating tables, and ultimately enabling fellowship to happen. The hardest part about having this desire, has been finding a group of people who appreciate the decorated part of life. My one worry was that people would think it was "stupid" for the dinner to be a nicer one (silly, I know). I decided to take a leap into this dinner party because I knew The Farmer and I were to the point in our lives where dinner parties were able to be what they are designed to be: calm evenings full of good food, laughter and great conversations. We are to the place in our lives where we don't always feel a need to be doing something at all times, we thoroughly enjoy just sitting and talking with our close friends and family and we are so thankful that this night became just that.
I served my italian roast recipe, along with my mother-in-law's green beans and my mom's mash potatoes. We finished the meal off with a slice of my mother-in-law's famous german chocolate cake with caramel icing.
The night was full of laughter, amazing conversations, cigars, jazz music, perfect food and all of our amazing family and friends.
This evening will be part of my memories forever, and I cannot wait until the next opportunity for a dinner party arises.
